Bangkok to Pattaya by private car
Pattaya is a beach city on the Gulf of Thailand, southeast of Bangkok in Chonburi province: around 20 km of coast, with temples, gardens and cabaret theatres along and behind it, a floating market inland, and the island of Koh Larn offshore. Pattaya from Bangkok by private car is about 145 km down Motorway 7, 90–120 minutes off-peak, door to door from your hotel to any address along that coast.

01Pattaya from Bangkok: the drive down
The Bangkok to Pattaya distance is about 145 km on Motorway 7. Off-peak the drive is 90–120 minutes; allow 120–180 minutes on Friday evenings, when the southbound traffic builds, and again on Sunday returns, with longer still on the eve of a long weekend. The slow points are the Chonburi merge and the Pattaya exits rather than the open road. Your chauffeur collects you at your Bangkok hotel and drives straight to your Pattaya address, with the fare, the tolls and the fuel settled before you travel. If you are weighing a private car against a metered taxi, the Bangkok to Pattaya taxi vs private driver guide lays out the trade-off.
02The coast from north to south — and what the car does on it
Pattaya is not a single point but a line of shore around 20 km long, so where the car sets you down matters. Naklua and Wong Amat are the north end; the busy centre is the Beach Road and Second Road strip along the bay; South Pattaya runs down to Walking Street and, beyond it, Bali Hai Pier; Pratumnak Hill rises between the centre and Jomtien; Jomtien and then Na Jomtien reach south toward Sattahip; and Khao Kheow lies inland, on the way down from Bangkok.
A few things change how the car works along that line. Through the centre the local roads usually run one way — south on Beach Road, north on Second Road — so your chauffeur sets the pickup to match the flow and confirms the exact spot with you. Walking Street closes to vehicles in the evening and through the night. The pier is as far as the car goes toward the islands, and on a holiday long weekend the roads around it and Sukhumvit Road in South Pattaya have been reported jammed through the day — a reason to make the pier the first stop of the day.
03Things to do in Pattaya, by stretch of coast
Pattaya is strung out along the water, so the surest way to plan is to group the places by where they sit rather than chase a list across the map.
- Naklua, the north end: the Sanctuary of Truth
- North Pattaya and Second Road: Terminal 21 Pattaya; the cabaret theatres, Tiffany's Show and the Alcazar Cabaret; Soi 6
- The centre: Pattaya Beach and Beach Road; Soi Buakhao and LK Metro
- South Pattaya: Walking Street, and Bali Hai Pier for the boat to Koh Larn
- Pratumnak Hill: the Big Buddha and the Pattaya Viewpoint
- Jomtien: Jomtien Beach and Tiger Park Pattaya
- Inland on Sukhumvit Road: the Pattaya Floating Market and Underwater World Pattaya
- Nong Prue: the Pattaya Dolphinarium and Pattaya Elephant Village
- Na Jomtien and the far south: Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Khao Chi Chan, the water parks
- On the way down from Bangkok: Khao Kheow Open Zoo, in Si Racha district
- Further out: Tiger Topia Sriracha, the Laem Chabang cruise port, and U-Tapao Airport in Rayong province
On a same-day return the stops you make have to fit inside the 4 hours the car waits in Pattaya; a whole day of them is priced on request. The car is your transport between stops — the tickets, the timing and what you do inside each place stay with you.
04Sanctuary of Truth, Naklua
At the north end, in Naklua, stands the Sanctuary of Truth, a vast wooden hall carved inside and out and, by its own account, still unfinished. The ticket is for a timed visit led by the venue's own staff, shoulders and knees must be covered, and hard hats are worn inside because the carving overhead is still live work — that is how visitors describe it, and they allow 2 to 3 hours in all. It is the northernmost stop on the Pattaya shore itself, so it pairs naturally with a Naklua or Wong Amat hotel; from anywhere else, the car takes it first or last rather than mid-route.
05Terminal 21 Pattaya, North Pattaya
In the heart of North Pattaya, Terminal 21 Pattaya is a shopping centre whose floors are each styled as a different world city, reached off North Pattaya Road and Second Road. One visitor's verdict is worth passing on: clean and cold after a morning in the heat, with the food court as the reason to come. It is the stop to keep for the hottest part of the day, or for rain. On a same-day return your chauffeur sets you down at the mall, and we confirm the meeting spot and time with you.
06Tiffany's Show and Alcazar Cabaret, Second Road
Pattaya's cabaret theatres, Tiffany's Show and the Alcazar Cabaret, both stand on Second Road. The Alcazar Cabaret is listed at about 70 minutes and Tiffany's Show at about 75 minutes, and booking ahead is the usual advice for peak-season and weekend performances. On a same-day return or a longer day with the car, your chauffeur takes you to the theatre and is back when the show lets out; we confirm where to meet with you.
07Soi 6, between Beach Road and Second Road
Soi 6 is a short one-way road in North Pattaya that runs between Beach Road and Second Road, walkable end to end in under ten minutes. It is an adult entertainment street lined with bars — busiest in the afternoon and early evening, and not somewhere to walk with children. Residents have reported traffic bottlenecks there that spill onto both main roads, so the car usually sets you down at one end rather than driving through — we confirm which end with you.
08Pattaya Beach and Beach Road
Pattaya Beach is the central city beach, a crescent backed by Beach Road, which runs its whole length of about 3 km from North Pattaya to South Pattaya. It is lively and walkable — fine for a stroll, a coffee and photographs — but the water is only fair, so for a real swim Jomtien or the island is the better choice. On a same-day return, treat it as a walk rather than a base: step out at one end of Beach Road, and we confirm with you where the car meets you at the other.
09Soi Buakhao and LK Metro
Soi Buakhao runs from Central Pattaya Road to South Pattaya Road, with the lanes off Second Road joining it along the way. It has become a base for long-stay visitors — markets, cafés and food close together, and Tree Town, a night market of food stalls and bars. LK Metro is the short, L-shaped side street that links Soi Diana to Soi Buakhao: a compact nightlife street of bars that gets going earlier in the evening than Walking Street. The car sets you down on Soi Buakhao or on Second Road rather than inside LK Metro; we confirm the spot with you on the day.
10Walking Street, South Pattaya
In South Pattaya, Walking Street is an ordinary road by day that turns pedestrian-only in the evening, when the change is abrupt — shutters up, neon on. It is a nightlife strip, not a quiet or a family evening out, which is worth knowing before you build an evening around it. The car stays outside while the street is closed: your chauffeur sets you down at its edge, and on a same-day return we confirm the meeting spot with you before you walk in.
11Bali Hai Pier and Koh Larn
Bali Hai Pier, in South Pattaya, is where the boats leave for Koh Larn, the island about 7 km offshore that people cross to for the swimming. The car cannot make the crossing, so the pier is its set-down: on a same-day return your chauffeur waits ashore inside its 4 hours, while the boat — a public ferry of about 45 minutes, or a speedboat of about 15 to 20 minutes — is your own arrangement. The boats land at Na Baan or Tawaen Beach and fill up at weekends, so we confirm the day's sailings with you before the pier run is fixed.
12Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai) and Pratumnak Hill
On top of Pratumnak Hill, the 18-metre Wat Phra Yai — the Big Buddha — is a brief visit: most people give it 30 to 60 minutes, with the Pattaya Viewpoint over the bay a short walk on. Early morning is cool and quiet, and late afternoon brings the better light for photos. The hill lies on the way from the centre to Jomtien, so the car takes it in passing rather than as a trip of its own.
13Jomtien Beach
Jomtien Beach lies south of the centre and runs about 6 km. Against the city beach it has the calmer water and the wider sand, fewer touts, and more families and couples — the easy choice for a real swim or an unhurried lunch. Its northern end holds the hotels and the water-sports crowd. For the car, Jomtien Beach Road is two-way again, after the temporary one-way system from its drainage works ended.
14Tiger Park Pattaya
Tiger Park Pattaya is in the Jomtien area. Visitors go in to touch and be photographed with the tigers, usually for 1 to 2 hours, and the park was open in September 2026. On a same-day return it combines easily with Jomtien Beach inside the 4 hours the car waits.
15Pattaya Floating Market and Underwater World Pattaya
Inland on Sukhumvit Road, the Pattaya Floating Market is a built village of the old Thai waterside, its craft and food stalls drawn from the country's regions; plan on about 1.5 to 2 hours on foot, and a canal boat ride is there if you want one. Underwater World Pattaya, an aquarium of walk-through tunnels, is on the same road — though it has had areas closed for works during 2026, so we check what is open before a day is built around it. Either fits between the beach and the gardens further south.
16Pattaya Dolphinarium
The Pattaya Dolphinarium, in Nong Prue, stages a dolphin show with seals and bottlenose dolphins. A visit is listed at under 1 hour, and the show was running in September 2026. Check the day's show with the venue; on a same-day return we fit the drop and the pickup around it.
17Pattaya Elephant Village
Pattaya Elephant Village sits on open grounds outside the city, in Nong Prue. It opened in 1973 as a home for elephants retired from logging work, and visitors come for the elephant show, the feeding and the rides; it was still running daily shows in 2026. On a same-day return the car takes you out and brings you back inside its 4 hours.
18Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Na Jomtien
In Na Jomtien, about 18 km south of Pattaya, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden is a large ornamental garden that opened in 1980. Allow a minimum of three hours for the grounds and one show — the garden stages a Thai cultural performance and an elephant show — and four to five hours with both. It is a destination in itself, not a stop. By car it also anchors the southern stretch: Khao Chi Chan and the water parks are its neighbours, so they share one drive.
19Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain)
Close by, Khao Chi Chan — Buddha Mountain — is a cliff face with a giant Buddha outline etched in gold into the rock. By visitors' reckoning it is a photo stop of 20 to 45 minutes, and it sits next to the Silverlake Vineyard and close to Nong Nooch, so they chain into a single southern loop without the car doubling back.
20Ramayana Water Park and Columbia Pictures Aquaverse
The big water parks, Ramayana Water Park and Columbia Pictures Aquaverse, sit south in the Na Jomtien area. The advice from people who have compared them: plan most of a day for either, and arrive near opening, since the slides stop before the gates do. A day at one park runs past the 4 hours a same-day return includes, so arrange the ride back before you go in — ask us on WhatsApp or LINE, and we quote a longer day when you book.
21Khao Kheow Open Zoo, on the way down
Khao Kheow Open Zoo is easier to reach on the way down from Bangkok than from Pattaya — about 50 km north-east of Pattaya, in Si Racha district, and spread across drive-through and walk-through sections. Budget at least half a day for it. That is well past the one short stop — under 15 minutes — that a point-to-point transfer includes, so a zoo day is its own plan: ask us on WhatsApp or LINE.
22Sriracha Tiger Zoo, now Tiger Topia Sriracha
Sriracha Tiger Zoo no longer trades under that name: it closed in 2021, and the site reopened in 2022 as Tiger Topia Sriracha, about 30 km from Pattaya, with some of the animal shows and wildlife experiences continuing. A visit there is an outing of its own rather than a stop on a transfer — ask us on WhatsApp or LINE.
23Laem Chabang cruise port
Laem Chabang, the deep-sea port where cruise ships call, is about 25 km north of Pattaya, in Si Racha district. Our service there runs one way only: we drive guests to the ship from a Bangkok hotel or from Suvarnabhumi at a flat THB 7,000 (THB 7,500 from Don Mueang), and we do not collect at the port; anyone coming off a ship takes the cruise line's transfer or a taxi from the desk at the terminal. From a Pattaya hotel to the ship there is no published fare, so ask us on WhatsApp or LINE.
24U-Tapao Airport
U-Tapao is a Royal Thai Navy airfield in Ban Chang district, Rayong province, that also handles commercial flights — 39.1 km from Pattaya City by the operator's figure. It has no published fare; we drive it on request: message us on WhatsApp or LINE for a quote. None of the flat fares on this page starts or ends at U-Tapao.
25Bangkok to Pattaya: one-way, same-day return, or staying over
One way to Pattaya, the fare is a flat THB 7,000 — the whole car, dropped at your hotel or condominium door anywhere in Pattaya, Jomtien, Na Jomtien, Naklua or Wong Amat. A same-day return is THB 11,000: both drives, plus 4 hours with the car waiting in Pattaya. A detour out of the province is a separate quote, and how that day runs is in the Bangkok to Pattaya day trip guide. From the airports the fares are flat too — THB 7,000 from Suvarnabhumi, about 120 km, and THB 7,500 from Don Mueang, about 170 km — and the way back is priced to match: THB 7,000 from Pattaya to Bangkok or to Suvarnabhumi, THB 7,500 to Don Mueang. Staying a night or more needs no overnight package, just a one-way ride down and another back when you leave. And for a whole day of stops there is the Pattaya coast day — it carries no published fare, so get a quote on WhatsApp or LINE.
26Bangkok hotels we publish pickup notes for
For a set of Bangkok hotels we publish pickup notes, so where the car meets you is settled before the day — among them the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, Four Seasons Bangkok, SO/ Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok and Banyan Tree Bangkok. If you are staying at one of these, the pickup details sit on its own page; from anywhere else in Bangkok, the car still comes to your door.

28FAQ
- Where is Pattaya, and how far is it from Bangkok?
- Pattaya lies on the Gulf of Thailand in Chonburi province, southeast of Bangkok. The Bangkok to Pattaya distance is about 145 km by road on Motorway 7: 90–120 minutes by private car off-peak, 120–180 minutes on Friday evenings and Sunday returns.
- How do you get to Pattaya from Bangkok?
- By private car it is one unbroken ride: you are collected at your door in Bangkok and taken straight to your address in Pattaya, with the fare agreed before you travel. One way is a flat THB 7,000; the legs from Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, and the way back, are flat fares too.
- What is Pattaya known for?
- Its shoreline and what lines it: the city beach at Pattaya Beach, the calmer sand at Jomtien, the carved Sanctuary of Truth in the north, the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden in the south, cabaret theatres, a floating market and the nightlife of Walking Street, with the island of Koh Larn offshore. The beaches run about 20 km, from Naklua in the north to Jomtien in the south.
- Can you do Bangkok to Pattaya and back in one day?
- Yes — there and back fits in a day. The product for it is the same-day return: THB 11,000 covers both drives and 4 hours with the car waiting in Pattaya, which is time for one stretch of the shore rather than its whole length. For a longer day, or one built around Koh Larn, ask us on WhatsApp or LINE for a quote.
- Can the car wait while we visit Koh Larn?
- Yes, within the day you book. The car stays on the mainland, and your chauffeur is waiting at Bali Hai Pier at the time you set. On a same-day return that wait is the 4 hours the fare includes, and the boat both ways comes out of it — so if the island is the point of the day, tell us on WhatsApp or LINE and we quote a longer one. We confirm the day's sailings with you at booking.
- What are the things to do in Pattaya, Thailand?
- The Sanctuary of Truth in Naklua; Terminal 21 Pattaya and the cabaret theatres on Second Road; Pattaya Beach in the centre; the boat to Koh Larn from Bali Hai Pier; the Big Buddha on Pratumnak Hill; Jomtien Beach; and, further south, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Khao Chi Chan and the water parks. They sit in a line along the water, so a car takes in the ones on your stretch in a single drive. Animal attractions include Tiger Park Pattaya in the Jomtien area and, in Nong Prue, the Pattaya Dolphinarium and Pattaya Elephant Village.
